Earlier this week, another volunteer and I reflected on how God continues to faithfully provide volunteers for CBU, month after month. This past Saturday was no exception.

Alongside Grace Moves, Bethel Church, and Sisters in Christ— a women’s group who have been serving faithfully since the summer of 2024—the following groups also served the unhoused in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ:

  • The Gomez family
  • A hair stylist offering free haircuts for children
  • Mr. Cho and members of a local Korean church who dropped off sack lunches
  • Two additional ministry groups serving across the train tracks

We’re deeply grateful that 84 unhoused and low-income families received hygiene supplies, clothing, shoes, bus passes, food, prayer, and the Word.

After we finished serving, Oscar from Bethel Church connected a verse, 1 Corinthians 3:6, to our ministry efforts that resonated with me. Here is a paraphrase: “Sometimes it feels like we’re tilling hard ground, but we must remember—one man plants, another waters, but it’s the Lord who makes the seed grow.”

What a great reminder: even when hearts seem closed, we trust in God that seeds are being planted—and in time, God will bring the harvest.
