Our first Back to School Giveaway was a success due to the hard work of our volunteers from Grace Moves, one of CBC’s Community Groups, and CBC’s Love SA. A special thank you to the CBC Love SA volunteer kids who helped the Adams Hill Elementary students load their new backpacks with free school supplies!
Knowing the beginning of the school year is financially stressful for some families, we set an ambitious goal of providing school supplies to 50 students at Adams Hill Elementary. We didn’t know how we would reach our goal, but we are so grateful we are part of a church that seeks to Love SA!
When we contacted CBC Global to help support our mission, they exceeded our expectations by providing school supplies and backpacks for 50 students. We are also grateful to @HEB with #HEBHelpingHere for donating $250, which we used to purchase additional school supplies requested by the Adams Hill teachers.
As a result of their contributions and the faithful donations of our Driven by Grace community, we provided school supplies to 84 students!
The best part of the event was hearing firsthand how our hard work made a difference to Jennifer, a mother of two 1st and 5th-grade boys. After receiving school supplies for her two boys, she told us, “I just started a new job and didn’t know how I was going to afford it.” This was just one of the many heartfelt responses we received from the parents.
Again, thank you to all the volunteers, donors, and prayer warriors who helped make this event a success!
